Covid in shipping
Maritime Museum Rotterdam (NL), 2021
Some 90% of all goods are transported by ocean. But what happens when the world grinds to a halt? The Maritime Museum Rotterdam collected stories from seafarers stuck at sea.
Heroes of the sea
Covid had a huge impact on shipping, but in spite of everything, the ships kept sailing. Thanks to the work of seafarers, the heroes of the sea, society was able to keep functioning. At the start of the pandemic, the museum began collecting stories from seafarers, their families, and shipowners. Studio Louter made a film with Shosho using the collected material.
“We saw it as our job to collect these stories and preserve them for future generations.”
