Brave Beasts
Royal Dutch Army Museum, Delft (NL), 2008
Stubby the dog saved his regiment from a poison gas attack. Throughout human history, animals have played a role in the military.
Family appeal
With its exhibition spotlighting the role played by animals in the military, the Royal Dutch Army Museum sought to appeal to families in particular. Visitors can marvel at animals ranging from life-saving elephants to heroic rats, feel for them, and consider the ethical questions around their use in the army.
“Where human capabilities end, animals, with their senses, strength and speed, provide solutions.”
Bas van Dijk, Reformatorisch Dagblad — 18 July 2008
