The Antwerp Story
Visit Antwerp, Antwerp (BE), 2021
Visitors experience the atmosphere of a centuries-old castle as digital installations immerse them in the story of Antwerp, past and present.
A first impression of the city
Antwerp’s oldest building has a new function. A brand-new experience trail turns Het Steen into the city’s gateway. Here, visitors get a first impression of Antwerp and learn about everything there is to do and see. They get acquainted with the city’s neighbourhoods, museums, residents, port and iconic buildings.
Historical and contemporary
Though Het Steen looks like a castle, it never functioned as one. In fact, it is an assemblage of structures from different eras. The new additions are a contemporary interpretation of the old styles. The experience centre balances the historical and the contemporary in a similar way.
The Antwerp Story
Following an 11-room trail, visitors can discover the many sides of Antwerp in an original way. They can immerse themselves in a 360° projection of the port, watch famous Belgian designers at work in a Pepper’s ghost presentation, or explore the iconic buildings of the city on the Schelde in depth.
